Privacy Policy

Effective July 2026

This policy covers the Life & Death Planner mobile app and this website. The website itself sets no cookies and runs no analytics or trackers.

Life & Death Planner ("we", "us") helps you organize your important information and final wishes so the people you trust have what they need. Because that information is deeply personal, protecting it is the core of how we built this app. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information You Provide

Your account email, and the information you choose to enter into your planner, which may include family and contact details, medical notes, financial accounts, insurance, property, legal documents, digital accounts, photos, and your wishes. You decide what to add; you can leave anything blank.

Information We Deliberately Do NOT Collect

By design, we do not store your Social Security number (only where your card is kept, if you choose) or your account passwords. We ask you to record where those live, not the secrets themselves.

Location

If you enable it, we use your device location only to recognize when you are at home so we can suggest the right tasks. If you choose to set a home location, those coordinates are stored privately in your profile and used only for at-home task suggestions. They are never shared.

How We Use Your Information

To provide the app: to save and display your planner, generate your PDF, power task suggestions, and share your planner with people you authorize. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

How It Is Stored and Secured

Your data is stored with our hosting provider (Supabase) and transmitted over encrypted connections. Access is restricted by row-level security so that only you and the viewers you explicitly authorize can read your planner. Photos are kept in private storage and shown through time-limited links.

Sharing

We share your planner only with the Authorized Viewers you designate, at the access level and timing you choose (immediately, on a date, on incapacity, or after death is verified). We also use a small number of service providers strictly to operate the app: our hosting/database provider, an email provider used to send viewer invitations, and an error-monitoring service that receives crash reports without your identity attached. Your planner contents are never sent to any AI service. We never sell your data.

Your Choices and Rights

You can view and edit your information at any time, export your planner as a PDF, and permanently delete your account and all associated data from within the app (Settings → Delete Account). Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access or delete your data; contact us to exercise them.

Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your planner data and your account from our systems.

Children

The app is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed to children.

Changes

We may update this policy. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
